Job summary

Tampa Electric Company is seeking a Designer Drafter (and Sr. level) to develop and revise engineering drawings for substation relay and control systems, structures, RTU, and related facilities.

You will prepare one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts, adhering to company standards and industry codes. The role requires 3 years of substation design experience, AutoCAD expertise, and a high school diploma with formal drafting training; senior level may include mentoring

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and formal drafting courses.
• 3 years of related work experience designing electric utility substations.
• Preferred: 5 years of related work experience in substations design.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work requests to create or modify substation drawings and maps.
• Create plots and layouts for drafting projects including procedures and instructions.
• Support and train CAD systems and drafting standards development.
• Guide and instruct team members in drafting techniques and standards.
• Translate and interpret vendor and customer CAD files.
