Job summary

The City of Georgetown, Texas is seeking a Senior Substation Protection/Automation lead to oversee electric distribution protection, automation, and SCADA tasks. You will guide engineers and technicians to ensure reliable operation and safety in substations, with focus on relay coordination, testing, and documentation.

The role requires directing personnel, coordinating maintenance and commissioning, and managing relationships with vendors and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field as listed, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience in electric distribution protection/automation and SCADA.
• 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role required.

Responsibilities

• Selects, leads, and motivates substation automation and protection personnel and provides direction.
• Plans maintenance, testing, and commissioning of relays, IEDs, and automation systems.
• Supports 24/7 reliability of protection and control systems; ensures proper relay coordination and event analysis.
• Oversees relay settings, SCADA mapping, and integration of devices into control systems.
• Drives protection schemes, automation configurations, and system upgrades for reliability and safety.
• Coordinates with engineering, field ops, and OT to implement enhancements and resolve issues.
• Leads technical discussions on complex protection/automation issues and recommends solutions.
• Maintains standards, drawings, procedures for relay testing and configuration control.
