Job summary

The City of Goldsboro is seeking an experienced Substation Protection and Automation Lead to oversee automation, protection, and SCADA integration across the electric distribution network. This role supervises SCADA analysts and automation technicians, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities include planning maintenance and testing of relays/IEDs, coordinating with engineering and field operations, and leading system upgrades while maintaining documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; six years of experience in protection/automation/SCADA.
• leadership experience in supervising substation automation personnel.
• familiar with protective relays, IEDs, and SCADA integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation automation and protection personnel with clear direction.
• Plan maintenance, testing, and commissioning of relays and IEDs.
• Support 24/7 reliability of protection and control systems; analyze events.
• Oversee relay settings, SCADA mapping, and device integration into control systems.
• Coordinate with engineering and field ops on system upgrades and issues.
• Develop and maintain protection/automation standards and procedures.
