Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in Elizabeth City, NC seeks a compassionate Substance Use Specialist to facilitate outpatient IOP group sessions and provide essential care in our clinic.

You will screen, assess, plan treatment, and coordinate with clinical teams under supervision. CADC or LCAS-A licensure is preferred; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

  • CADC required or Provisional Licensure preferred: LCAS-A.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic practices and group facilitation techniques.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy.

Responsibilities

  • Screen and assess adults and children with substance use needs.
  • Develop treatment plans and provide IOP coverage.
  • Facilitate group therapy and coordinate with clinical teams and referral sources.
  • Document accurately and support crisis intervention and aftercare planning.

Your Role in Our Mission

As a Substance Use Disorder Specialist (CADC or LCASA), you will provide screening, assessment, treatment planning, IOP coverage, and therapeutic services to adults and children with substance use needs. This role involves facilitating group therapy, collaborating with clinical teams and referral sources, and supporting clients through aftercare planning and community referrals. The SUD Specialist also ensures accurate documentation, supports crisis intervention, and promotes a safe, therapeutic environment. Services are provided under clinical supervision.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive rate: Starting from $22.60 per hour and up for CADC | $49,000 and up for LCAS-A

What We’re Looking For
  • Skills: Knowledge of therapeutic practices, group facilitation techniques, as well as problem solving and de‑scalation in times of crisis.
  • Licensure/Certification: CADC required or Provisional Licensure preferred: LCAS-A
  • 2 years of experience in Substance Use services
  • Proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation for work‑related travel
