Job summary

Sea Mar Community Health Centers seeks a Substance Use Disorder Trainee to learn under clinical supervision and perform counseling, screening, assessment and intake duties for adults, youth and families with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health issues.

The role emphasizes adherence to ASAM criteria, confidentiality, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely access to services and accurate documentation within Sea Mar policy.

Qualifications

• Must have completed all prerequisites to become a Substance Use Disorder Professional.
• Current Substance Use Disorder Trainee Registration with the State DOH is required.
• Active CPR and First Aid certifications are required by employer policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate care and understand growth across the lifespan.
• Offer individual and group counseling for substance use and related mental health issues.
• Coordinate with staff and agencies to expedite patient treatment and continuum of care.
• Document hours, education, and treatment plans per ASAM criteria.
• Serve as co-case manager for a group of up to ten youth.
• Attend staff meetings and maintain compliant records for patient care.
