Job summary

American Addiction Centers seeks a Counselor I in Rhode Island to provide individual, group, and family counseling, conduct clinical assessments, and participate in treatment planning and coordination with the treatment team.

Responsibilities include documentation in line with policies, collaboration with UR and clinical staff, and adherence to HIPAA and industry standards to support patient recovery and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences required; strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
• LCDP required.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a behavioral healthcare field preferred.
• Experience working with substance use, addictions, mental health, cognitive behavior treatment and motivational interviewing.
• Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record software and documentation.
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group and family counseling.
• Conduct clinical assessments for new patients and ongoing required assessments.
• Participate in Treatment team and provide service coordination as needed for patients.
• Advocate and communicate with UR department on all aspects of patient care.
• Ensure documentation meets contract, licensure, accreditation and standards for services in a timely manner.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines.
