Job summary

Alpharus Health in Sycamore, GA is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to join its correctional healthcare team. The role involves conducting client interviews, assessments, and delivering individual and group counseling to support recovery, with a caseload up to 25 clients.

Patients include diverse populations; you will coordinate aftercare plans, ensure records compliance, and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a helping profession from an accredited college or university.
• Some counseling experience, experience in substance use disorder or mental health treatment is preferred.
• Must obtain certification as identified by state within 30 months of first date that counseling services are provided (GACA/NAADAC/ICRC/CCS).
• Must be able to obtain Georgia Department of Corrections clearance to work in the correctional institution.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client interviews and assessments to review substance use disorder and treatment history.
• Evaluate client response to treatment to modify treatment plans and manage caseloads.
• Provide individual counseling and didactic group counseling, including psychoeducation and family education.
• Assist in relapse prevention, problem solving, and behavior modification.
• Develop discharge summaries and continuing care plans with supervisor approval.
