Job summary

CRF, a behavioral health provider in San Diego, seeks a Substance Use Counselor to deliver crisis intervention, case management, and counseling within Intensive Mobile Psychosocial Assertive Community Treatment programs.

You'll work in Downtown San Diego and other sites, with home visits and community-based services, a 40-hour week, rotating weekends, and a mix of morning/evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Substance use disorder counseling certification can substitute for BA.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, case management and rehabilitative counseling tailored to each client.
• Provide individual and group substance abuse counseling.
• Assist in developing and designing curriculum and co-occurring disorders groups.
• Facilitate substance abuse groups and networks with community providers.
• Develop and maintain client service plans with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide cross-training for the team to address substance abuse issues and collaboration.
• Services are provided in clients' homes and in community sites.

Description

Hours: 40 hours per week with work schedule option and rotating weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday)

• Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 pm to 5:00 pm OR
• Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm (9 hours) and Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (8 hours), off every other Friday

As a Substance Use Counselor, you will:

• Provide crisis intervention, case management and rehabilitative counseling services and provides and/or coordinates substance abuse assessment, treatment planning, and service delivery tailored to the individual needs of the clients served
• Provide individual and group substance abuse counseling
• Assist in developing and designing curriculum and facilitates co-occurring disorders groups
• Facilitate substance abuse groups and networks with community substance treatment providers
• Develop and maintain client service plans that address the needs of each individual served in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Provide cross-training for the rest of the team to deal effectively with substance abuse issues and optimize collaboration and support
• Services are provided in the clients' homes as well as in community-based sites
• 19 days of PTO per year; 12 paid holidays per year

Our Intensive Mobile Psychosocial Assertive Community Treatment programs (Downtown IMPACT, IMPACT, Senior IMPACT and South Bay IMPACT) provide intensive, community-based case management services for homeless adults throughout San Diego County. We deliver fully-integrated services to clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness, as well as individuals with co-occurring, mental health, and substance disorders.

Our programs utilize the evidence-based practice of Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) to support our clients in the higher level of community care and to assist them in reaching their goals and living a life that is not dominated by mental illness. Our team is a model of care, providing treatment, rehabilitation, and case management supports.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field required. Substance use disorder counseling certification can be substituted for BA.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
• A valid California driver's license in good standing, personal vehicle, proof of insurance and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position
• Able to pass criminal/background clearance

Summary

Meets the bio-psychosocial needs of clients by providing indicated behavioral health services, case management services and/or crisis intervention, and bills and documents services appropriately. Works with individuals to assist them in accessing appropriate support services and entitlements, medical care, community resources, and family support systems in an effort to facilitate recovery and rehabilitation.
