Job summary

The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide counseling, intakes, assessments, crisis intervention, and treatment planning. The role includes group therapy, family education, and referrals within a supportive, confidential environment.

This full-time exempt position pays based on experience, with duties including documentation, follow-up, and participation in staff meetings. O'Fallon, MO location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field with two years' full-time experience in treatment or rehabilitation of substance abuse.
• Certification by Missouri Substance Abuse Counselors Certification Board; QSAP, CADC, CRAADC, CCJP, CCDP, CCDP-D, LPC, LCSW or Clinical Psychologist accepted.
• CPR/First Aid certification required; must demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients and conduct intakes, assessments, and crisis interventions.
• Develop treatment plans and review progress; provide ongoing follow-up counseling.
• Lead group counseling sessions and education for clients daily.
• Facilitate referrals to Community Support Workers, Mental Health Counselors, and outside agencies as needed.
• Maintain confidential documentation of client progress and required reports.
