Job summary

The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center in O'Fallon, MO seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide comprehensive counseling services, intakes, assessments, crisis intervention, and treatment planning. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field with two years’ full-time experience in treatment or rehabilitation of substance abuse required.
• Missouri Substance Abuse Counselor Certification required; Inc. will be considered.
• One of the following credentials is required: QSAP, CADC, CRAADC, CCJP, CCDP, CCDP-D, LPC, LCSW or Clinical Psychologist.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients and conduct intake assessments to determine treatment needs.
• Develop treatment plans and provide ongoing follow-up counseling and plan reviews.
• Develop safety plans and conduct crisis intervention as needed.
• Lead group counseling and education sessions with clients daily.
• Facilitate referrals to Community Support Worker, Mental Health Counselor and outside agencies.
• Maintain confidential, accurate client documentation and activity reports.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in related team activities.
