Job summary

STR, a leader in defense and intelligence technologies, is seeking an Electrical Engineer with an interest in undersea robotics to design, develop, and implement electrical systems for next‑generation uncrewed underwater vehicles and sensor suites.

You will work with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to bring hardware concepts from board‑level design through bring‑up, test, and field deployment, while maintaining rigorous design documentation and ensuring real‑time reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a closely related field with hands‑on electronics design and debug.
• Experience designing and testing analog and digital circuits including schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Proficiency with lab testing using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related equipment.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and real‑time control applications (MCUs, SBCs, FPGAs).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and document analog and digital circuitry for uncrewed undersea vehicles, including power distribution and sensor integration
• Develop and lay out PCBs, including component selection and fabrication packages
• Bring up new boards and modules: bench testing, debugging, and iteration
• Interface onboard sensors (IMUs, depth sensors, navigation, acoustic sensors) with vehicle processors
• Define hardware‑software interfaces with embedded software engineers and support driver development
• Ensure packaging, environmental protection, thermal management, and compliance for undersea operations
• Contribute to system‑level requirements and electrical architectures for undersea vehicles and payloads
• Maintain design records, test reports, and configuration documentation
