Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI seeks a Structural Engineer I/II to provide structural engineering support for VIRGINIA Class submarine construction at EB QP.

You will proactively assist trade personnel to overcome construction problems, interpret design and drawing requirements, and coordinate with SMEs to resolve issues, with occasional engineering calculations and on-site surveillance of manufacturing and testing activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil (Structural), Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Marine/Ocean or Aeronautical engineering.
• 1–5 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Responsibilities

• Proactively assist trade personnel to overcome construction problems and facilitate design changes and process improvements.
• Evaluate shipyard issues and develop technically acceptable resolutions via disposition of Engineering Reports and TIR Unsats.
• Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements and coordinate engagement of SMEs.
