Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking engineers to provide structural and electrical technical support for COLUMBIA Class submarine construction at Newport News Shipyard. You will help manage issues across fabrication, manufacturing, and outfitting while communicating assessments to operations and ship management.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering with up to 5 years’ experience and the ability to obtain DoD clearance; strong problem-solving and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil (Structural), Naval Architecture, Marine/Ocean, Electrical or equivalent) (Completed by December 2026)
• 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance

Responsibilities

• Provide structural and electrical technical support for submarine construction activities for COLUMBIA Class submarines at NNS
• Assist in management of construction issues throughout steel fabrication, manufacturing and outfitting
• Communicate engineering assessments with operations, trade, planning, and ship’s management organizations
• Relay shipyard priorities to Newport News Shipyard, Electric Boat, and Navy stakeholders
