Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer at the Groton, CT shipyard to oversee development and integration of multiple electrical/electronic systems for Virginia Class submarines, including cameras, hydraulic controls, communications, and propulsion interfaces.

The role requires a BS in Electrical or Mechanical with electrical experience, 5+ years of engineering work, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with electrical experience
• 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience
• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense

Responsibilities

• Oversee system/component development, plans, and schedules
• Develop/review procurement specifications and subcontractor statements of work to ensure traceability to ship and system requirements
• Review test procedures and reports
• Review and develop system/component technical manuals, ship system manuals and operating instructions
• Identify and manage system/component risks and lifecycle considerations
• Occasional travel will be required
• Majority of the job is electrical system engineering including reading and writing requirements, reviewing drawings and procedures
