Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Rhode Island seeks an experienced engineer to support Virginia-class submarine construction at EBQP. Responsible for resolving design issues, providing technical support for manufacturing, and ensuring as-built configurations meet specifications.

The role focuses on advancing technical and project management skills, interfacing with trades, management, and Navy representatives to relay shipyard priorities and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Marine/Ocean, Naval Architecture, Aerospace, Civil).
  • 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively assisting trade personnel to overcome construction problems and facilitating /implementing design and process improvements
  • Adjudication of technical issues encountered during construction
  • Interpreting design/drawing/specification requirements
  • Providing clear and timely direction and/or evaluation to Quonset Point trades via disposition of Engineering Reports (ERs) and TIR UNSATs.
  • Performing engineering calculations for “as-built” configurations
  • Interfacing with trade personnel, management and on-site Customer (Navy) representatives
