Job summary

Valmont Industries is seeking a Seam Welder Operator to join our production team. This role welds the seams of steel shafts using Sub Arc Seam Welder, loads shafts with conveyors or cranes, and monitors material quality to ensure standards are met.

The position requires 3+ years welding experience, ability to read blueprints, tape measure skills, and forklift/overhead crane capability. Strong safety awareness and precise measuring are essential.

Qualifications

• No degree required.
• Minimum of 3+ years relevant experience.
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds.
• Read blue prints.
• Ability to use tape measure.
• Must be Valmont trained and certified in operation of forklift.
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
• One year of previous experience in a professional welding position.
• Experience with PLC controlled machinery.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• AWS certified welder operator qualification for SAW and GMAW processes.

Responsibilities

• Load steel shafts into Sub Arc Seam Welder
• Weld the entire seam of steel shaft using the Sub Arc Seam Welder to make a steel pole
• Monitor the quality of incoming steel shafts and determine when material is substandard
• Operate a straightener to straighten the shafts after welding
• Use precision measuring instruments to ensure incoming material and to verify that finished product meets specifications
