North Central Missouri College is seeking enthusiastic student tutors for the Tutoring Center on the Main Campus in Trenton, MO. The role involves one-to-one and small-group tutoring, online sessions, and supporting students in developing study skills.
You will assess learning needs, set goals, provide clear explanations, and maintain records. This part-time, fall-and-spring work-study position emphasizes reliability, communication, and a genuine commitment to student success.
Student tutors facilitate student academic skill development. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Tutors coordinate learning and provide one-to-one and small group tutoring within the Tutoring Center, as well as online. Tutors will work with students to assess their learning needs, set short-term goals for the session, long-term goals for academic development, and assist them in reaching those goals. Tutors will act as referral agents for students struggling either academically or personally and should have a genuine concern for the needs of students.

Skills: Students must have a strong knowledge of the subject they are tutoring. Strong verbal and written communication. Ability to explain concepts clearly. Active listening and approachable demeanor. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of students.
Physical Demands: Moving about between buildings on the NCMC campus, ascending and descending stairs, reaching, pulling, and pushing when filing, able to do repetitive tasks, remain stationary at a desk for extended periods of time.
Environmental Demands: Fluctuations while walking on tile and carpeted floors in a heated and air conditioned environment.
