Job summary

North Central Missouri College is seeking enthusiastic student tutors for the Tutoring Center on the Main Campus in Trenton, MO. The role involves one-to-one and small-group tutoring, online sessions, and supporting students in developing study skills.

You will assess learning needs, set goals, provide clear explanations, and maintain records. This part-time, fall-and-spring work-study position emphasizes reliability, communication, and a genuine commitment to student success.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the subject being tutored.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly.

• Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of students.

Responsibilities

• Attend tutor training workshops.
• Conduct small-group and/or one-to-one tutoring.
• Help students develop positive study habits and study skills.
• Help students with projects and to prepare for quizzes and tests.
• Explain concepts and ask questions that encourage students to think and work independently.
• Encourage students to complete homework assignments.
• Be at work on time as scheduled.
• Maintain contact with the Tutoring Center Coordinator.
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills toward all students and NCMC faculty/staff.
• Perform other record-keeping and resource maintenance duties.
• Schedule and conduct online tutoring when requested.
