Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute is seeking an Academic Support Center tutor to provide academic assistance to students, helping develop knowledge, skills, and confidence for independent learning.
Responsibilities include meeting students one-to-one or in small groups, documenting sessions, and supporting computer-related tasks. The role offers part-time hours in a hybrid setting, with emphasis on punctuality and confidentiality.
An Academic Support Center tutor provides academic support to Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute students. Providing academic support means helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become independent learners. Academic Support Center tutors help students clarify and/or reinforce course content, understand assignments and material, and strengthen study skills. Additional assistance might include: reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test questions, working on solutions to problems, or providing technical support for digital components of classes.

The employee should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve an office and classroom workspace, and working closely with others.
The employee must maintain the office and teaching environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Physical and marginal functions require the ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following; standing, walking or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting and carrying, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment, and extended exposure to computer screens.
The employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others, and handling varied tasks simultaneously.
Additionally, the employee must maintain mental capacity, which permits making sound decisions and using good judgment, demonstrating intellectual capabilities, and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and personnel.
This is a part-time position, with flexible scheduling, based on the needs of the office, and must maintain a weekly schedule of available hours in a physical Academic Support Center or a virtual Academic Support Center space.
Local travel is seldom required.
Successful course completion with a B or higher in the subject(s) to be tutored and an instructor recommendation in the subject area is required.
