This role requires autonomy and responsibility as you directly serve students and help enhance campus life. As a Be Engaged peer coach you will plan and execute events, assist clubs, and contribute to the Student Involvement Hub.

Qualifications

  • Must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment‑related visas).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a peer coach for the Be Engaged Match Up program and guide students to campus involvement.
  • Plan and execute large-scale campus events with the Coordinator of Student Life.
  • Independently manage projects to advance the Office of Student Life, including social media, workshops, and events.
  • Support the organizational development of student-driven clubs, including training materials, club fairs, and co-chairing the Clubs and Orgs Council.
  • Enhance the daily operations of the Student Involvement Hub through programming, resource development, and assisting callers at the Rogers Student Center.

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker – Student Life Assistant.

The Office of Student Life exists to facilitate student learning and engagement opportunities that build community and promote holistic well‑being and transformative development of the Nevada State Student body. The Student Life Assistant position will support this mission by being a key player in the Office of Student Life’s mission to build a culture of involvement by directly serving students by getting them connected to the campus community. This role requires a significant level of autonomy and responsibility.

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as a peer coach for the Be Engaged Match Up program, including meeting one‑on‑one with students and providing personalized recommendations for student organizations and other on‑campus involvement opportunities.
  • Work directly with the Coordinator of Student Life to plan and execute large‑scale campus events.
  • Independently manage projects as assigned to advance the mission of the Office of Student Life, such as social media, planning workshops, and planning and executing events.
  • Work directly with the Coordinator of Student Life to support the organizational development of student‑driven clubs, including developing training materials, planning semesterly club fairs, serving as the co‑chair of the Clubs and Orgs Council, and meeting one‑on‑one with club leaders.
  • Enhance the daily operations of the Student Involvement Hub by doing passive and active programming, identifying and creating resources to improve the space, answering all phone inquiries from the University’s main line, and providing guidance to guests in the Rogers Student Center.
Additional Opportunities
  • Earn the credential of being a NASPA Certified Peer Educator.
  • Staff the Welcome Desk in the Rogers Student Center Lobby.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree‑seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment‑related visas).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Reels.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to generate new ideas for the Office of Student Life.
  • Previous experience working on campus.
  • Previous experience in a customer‑service driven position.
  • Familiarity with BeEngaged.nevadastate.edu and how to maximize its value as an end‑user.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.

Work Hours: Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate: $14.00 per hour.

Eligibility to work in the United States: Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
