Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, OR is seeking a Student Worker for the ETS/UB High School Tutor pool. Tutors assist ETS/UB students in learning subject material and study skills to maintain satisfactory academic standing, with focus on math, science, and Spanish.
Positions are pooled and filled as needed across seven area high schools. Responsibilities include supporting individual students after school and contributing to a positive, professional environment.
The position of ETS/UB High School Tutor is a pooled position and applications will be reviewed on an as needed, on-going basis. Are you someone who is organized and innovative? As a Student Worker in the position of ETS/UB High School Tutor, your primary role shall be to help individual ETS/UB students learn subject material and study skills needed to maintain satisfactory academic standing. Tutors are needed in a number of subjects, particularly math, science and Spanish. The Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound Programs utilize tutors in seven high schools throughout Douglas County. These jobs are primarily after school, and the seven high schools are Roseburg, Douglas, Riddle, Sutherlin, Glide, Oakland and South Umpqua High Schools. Applicants will go into a pool, and the staff will contact applicants as needed.

Transcripted B or higher grade in course assigned or teacher referral if currently in course to be tutored required. Exceptions: Math and Science tutors may be allowed to tutor lower levels of the course(s) for which they have been approved upon recommendation from faculty in that discipline, on a case by case basis. Applicants possessing a bachelor's or master's degree will be evaluated by the ETS/UB Advisor on a case by case basis. Native speakers of foreign languages will be considered with recommendation.
