Job summary

Umpqua Community College seeks a Part-Time Adult Basic Skills Instructor to support students in reading, math, science and social studies through one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction with the goal of GED success or pursuing higher education or career advancement. The role may be located at the main campus, south county campus, Woolley Center, or Wolf Creek Job Corps.

Qualifications

ADULT BASIC SKILLS INSTRUCTOR (POOL)

Faculty Part-Time

As the Faculty Part-Time Adult Basic Skills Instructor, you will be helping students improve their reading, math, science, and social studies skills through one-on-one support and small group teaching with the goal of passing the GED test, enrolling in higher education, or advancing in their career. The applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions or substitute teacher positions. The position could be located at the college main campus, south county campus, Woolley Center, or Wolf Creek Job Corps.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, or related to one of the GED topics: Language Arts, Science, Math, or Social Studies.
• Experience in an instructional setting such as teaching or tutoring.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Education, or related field.
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Previous Adult Basic Skills experience.
