Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Computer Science is seeking student employees to assist in the computer science area as well as other IT assignments. CS student workers fix student and University devices in a timely manner, communicating with the user and co‑workers to develop solutions while ensuring permanence. Students will handle various IT tasks and ease the workload for the rest of IT.

Job Duties
  • Assist CS faculty, staff, and students with issues or requests regarding university issued devices, lab equipment, or instructional technology.
  • Assist with student devices as long as the technician can help, otherwise refer to the Technical Assistance Center (TAC).
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with IT staff to resolve them.
  • Ensure printers in labs or common spaces are functioning and stocked with toner and paper.
  • Open and close the lab at designated times posted on signage.
  • Support lab sections that may be scheduled in the labs.
  • Work with department systems admins and IT staff to rectify requests or issues.
  • Use the university ticketing system to record work done, issues, or requests by the department.
  • Assist with the IT ticket queue when not assigned a task by the department or needed to oversee a lab section.
  • Must have completed CSCI 162 or transfer in of an equivalent course (management can consider other experiences).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
