Job summary

Lansing Community College seeks student employees for Technology Support Services. This pooled position supports preparing computers, deploying imaging, and providing hardware/software troubleshooting on campus.

Regular on-campus presence is required; flexible or hybrid schedules may be approved by the College. Students must be residents of Michigan and meet enrollment, GPA, and degree requirements. The role offers hands-on experience in a college IT environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA unless the first semester and/or waivers are approved.
  • Actively pursuing a certificate, associate’s, or undergraduate degree at Lansing Community College.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing computers for distribution across campus, including unboxing, imaging, testing and deployment.
  • Providing technical support for faculty, staff, and students by installing and troubleshooting hardware and software.
  • Collaborating within a team to assist part-time and full-time technicians on assignments and projects.
  • Preparing and assisting with managing surplus and e-waste equipment.

Job Summary

This job posting is for a pooled position and will remain open for the 2026–2027 academic year. Responsibilities

Student employees in Technology Support Services Department will assist with:

  • Preparing computers for distribution throughout campus, such as unboxing, imaging, testing and deployment.
  • Providing technical support for faculty, staff, and students by performing computer installations and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Working well within a team environment assisting part‑time and full‑time technicians with assignments and special projects.
  • Preparing and assisting with managing of surplus and e‑waste equipment.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Requirements for LCC Student Employment

The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters in which they are attending classes as follows:

  • Enrolled and actively attending the following total LCC credit hours by semester:
    • Fall and/or Spring Semester(s): 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16‑week period)
    • Summer Semester: 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8‑week period)
  • 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it’s student’s first semester of enrollment at LCC and/or granted approval to waive requirement from the Student Employment Coordinator)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Actively pursuing a certificate, associate’s, or undergraduate degree at Lansing Community College
  • International students (F-1 visa holders with valid I‑20 issued by LCC) must meet the following minimum enrollment requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS):
    • Fall and/or Spring Semester(s): 12.0 credits minimum (taken over 16‑week period)
    • Summer Semester: 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8‑week period)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related experience with computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Actively seeking student applicants majoring in Computer Science and/or Information Technology degree/certificate program(s).
  • 3.00 GPA or higher.
