  • Organize and lead three 60-minute interactive study sessions each week.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and maintain communication with their faculty member.
  • Complete training prior to the semester's start and attend meetings with the BioPM team and faculty as necessary.
  • Join faculty-led review sessions during lab hours.
  • Innovatively promote and advertise their BioPM sessions to students.
  • Assist students in building self-confidence and enhancing their study skills.

East Texas A&M University: Biological & Environmental Sciences Biology Peer Mentors (BioPMs) Biology Peer Mentors (BioPMs) conduct weekly sessions throughout the semester and engage with students one-on-one or in small groups who require help with Introductory Biology I and II, as well as Cell Biology courses. BioPMs assist students in grasping topics and concepts related to these courses. The peer mentoring sessions are tailored to address students' specific questions and needs; however, BioPMs do not provide direct solutions for homework, quizzes, or exams. Applicants are required to have an A- or higher in the relevant course(s) and a minimum GPA of 3.0.

All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.

Must be awarded federal or state work-study through Financial Aid May work up to 19 hours per week during the semester May work full-time during breaks and summer if returning in the fall Must not work during scheduled class times Positions are limited to the amount awarded and must follow program guidelines
