Job summary

Shelburne Community School (SCS) is seeking a dedicated SAP Counselor to provide essential school-based services, focusing on adolescent wellbeing and academic success. The role includes prevention, screening, intervention, and referrals for substance use, stress, and adjustment issues within a supportive school environment.

The ideal candidate will have SAP Counselor Certification or CADC/LADC licensure, or a Vermont Educator License, plus strong communication skills to engage students,

Qualifications

• Experience in substance abuse prevention and adolescent mental health support.

Responsibilities

• Provide intervention and confidential screening for students with substance use, stress, and relationship issues.
• Offer individual and group counseling sessions on stress management and peer/family relationships.
• Deliver ATOD prevention education to staff and the community.
• Support staff with teaching weekly Skills for Life classes (grades 5-8).
• Screen and assess adolescents to make internal/external referrals.
• Provide case management and reintegration support for students entering/leaving treatment.
• Participate in student support teams and collaborate with outside agencies.
• Maintain client confidentiality per 42 CFR Part 2.
