Job summary

Schenectady City School District is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide counseling and guidance to students with substance abuse issues. You will develop treatment plans, maintain records, and coordinate with community services to support students’ recovery and education.

The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in a relevant field and experience in individual or group counseling related to substance abuse. This position is critical for supporting students in their transition to recovery and education.

A provisional civil service appointment is required, including residency in Schenectady County.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a regionally accredited or NY State registered college or university with a relevant Master’s Degree and one year of experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree with two years of counseling experience in substance abuse.
• Associate’s Degree with four years of counseling experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling and guidance to students and families.
• Develop treatment plans for assigned students.
