Job summary

Blount County Board of Education seeks a Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school and related activities. You will follow routes, supervise students, and monitor vehicle performance to maintain a secure, efficient transportation system.

The role requires a valid Alabama CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, a current DOT physical, and the ability to pass required screenings. 184-day schedule with a 40-hour work week is typical.

Qualifications

• Possess Alabama CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement.
• Maintain valid DOT physical as required by policy.
• Maintain acceptable motor vehicle record (no DUI).
• Pass drug screening and random testing biennially.
• Complete Blount County School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test.

Responsibilities

• Observe traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintain rules and procedures for transportation.
• Transport passengers on assigned routes per schedule.
• Unload students at authorized stops.
• Maintain communication equipment and follow guidelines.
• Report discipline problems to supervisors.
• Cooperate with principals, Supervisor, and parents to resolve issues.
• Conduct bus evacuation drills as required.
• Keep bus fueled and clean daily.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections for defects.
• Report accidents and mechanical issues immediately.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information per FERPA.
