Job summary

Blount County Board of Education seeks a Bus Driver to safely transport students on assigned routes, ensure daily pre-trip checks, and maintain safety and discipline aboard the vehicle. The role requires a clean driving record, DOT physical, and adherence to all school and transportation policies.

The position is 184 days with routes determined by the Supervisor of Transportation, and involves meticulous reporting and coordination with school staff and families.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alabama bus driver certificate and CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement.
  • DOT physical meeting BCBOE policy requirements.
  • Clean motor vehicle record with no DUI convictions.
  • Mandatory drug screening results and pass random screenings biennially.
  • Must pass Blount County School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test.

Responsibilities

  • Observe traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintain bus cleanliness and proper fuel levels.
  • Transport passengers on assigned routes on schedule.
  • Report accidents, vehicle damage and injuries immediately.
  • Cooperate with principals, supervisors, and parents to resolve discipline issues.
  • Conduct bus evacuation drills and maintain security of student information.
