Job summary

Empower Community School in Alabama seeks a reliable Bus Driver to provide safe transportation for students. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, operate a bus along assigned routes and schedules, and maintain orderly conduct on board.

The role requires punctuality, a valid Alabama ABL and CDL with P/S endorsement, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and good written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement.
• Current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record and insurability.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Proficient written and verbal communication.
• Ability to operate a school vehicle on a defined schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Meet suitability criteria under state law.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus and reports mechanical issues.
• Picks up and discharges students at authorized stops per route and schedule.
• Maintains communications and surveillance equipment on buses as required.
• Maintains order and discipline on the bus and reports student issues to the proper authority.
• Adheres to traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Transports students on field trips and other events as assigned.
• Participates in professional development and prepares required reports.
