Job summary

BUTLER COUNTY SCHOOLS is seeking a skilled Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school and on designated trips. The role requires a valid Alabama CDL with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and certification by Alabama SDE.

You will follow daily routes, maintain discipline, and uphold safety standards while communicating effectively with staff and families. This position reports to the Transportation Coordinator and requires completion of required screenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Alabama Class A CDL with passenger endorsement and clean driving record.
• Minimum of five years licensed driving experience.
• Certification as school bus driver by Alabama SDE.
• Drug, alcohol, and background screenings completed as required.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from school and on trips safely and efficiently.
• Comply with state and local laws related to bus transportation.
• Observe safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintain discipline of students and report incidents to administrators.
• Fuel bus according to transportation guidelines.
• Keep bus clean per policies.
• Follow assigned route and schedule.
• Report changes to supervisor regarding routes or loads.
• Complete pre-trip safety inspections and report mechanical issues.
