Job summary

Capitol Academy and Capitol Elementary in Sacramento, CA, are seeking a dedicated Transporter / Teacher Assistant to support students with special needs. This dual role provides safe transportation and classroom assistance, helping students participate in daily activities and learn in a positive environment.

You will transport students safely, assist teachers, support academic tasks and behavior management, supervise transitions, and help with materials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
• Fingerprint clearance and TB test required.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) required.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, appointments, or approved activities while following all transportation policies and safety procedures.
• Assist teachers with classroom instruction, learning activities, and student engagement.
• Support students with academic tasks, behavior management, and social-emotional development.
• Help supervise students during classroom transitions, recess, lunch, and other school activities.
• Prepare classroom materials, organize learning spaces, and assist with daily classroom operations.
• Communicate effectively with teachers and school staff regarding student needs, transportation concerns, and daily observations.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs and report any incidents, concerns, or maintenance issues promptly.
