Ohio University in Athens, OH is seeking a Student Transit Driver for the Loops to provide safe, reliable campus transportation for students and staff. Duties include operating transit vehicles, maintaining schedules, and assisting riders with a focus on safety and customer service.

Shifts run 7am–12:30pm or 12:30pm–6pm, with training provided for each vehicle type. Applicants must have a valid US Class D license and be enrolled in a post-secondary program.

Position Information Business Title Student Transit Driver - Loops Special Instructions to Applicants Posting Number 20161775STD Department Summary 1. Operates transportation services for students, faculty/staff of Ohio University to include scheduled university routes, on-demand transportation resources, accessibility transport & special event accommodations. 2. Provides superior customer service and safe, efficient transport to customers with adherence to all university, state, and federal laws and regulations. Performs routine vehicle inspection activities and maintains proper transportation documentation to ensure compliance with all position requirements. 3. Responsible for cleaning, inspecting and general maintenance duties associated with university fleet to include washing and fueling of vehicles. This positions focus is to provide excellent customer service and safe, efficient and reliable transport to customers with adherence to all university, state and federal laws and regulations. Training in each vehicle type will be provided. Position is contingent upon passing all aspects of departmental driver training course. Job Profile Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Operates campus transit vehicles, providing safe and efficient transportation for students and staff. Responsibilities include ensuring vehicle maintenance, adhering to schedules, and assisting passengers as needed. Requires United States Class D license with demonstrated safe driving record. Level Summary Performs basic tasks and assists with administrative or operational duties under supervision. Roles are entry-level and aimed at providing exposure to workplace environments. Supervisory Responsibilities: Limited supervisory responsibilities. May supervise other student workers. Fiscal Responsibilities: No budgetary responsibility. Problem Solving: Addresses routine, well-defined problems under supervision. Independence of Action: Works under close supervision. Communication and Collaboration: Communicates primarily with supervisor and peers. Collaborates with team members to accomplish tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester. Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines. Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools. Departments may have specific minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must have valid United States Class D license with demonstrated safe driving record.
• Minimum of 1 year of applicable experience.
• Must be flexible with work hours.
• Positive & professional attitude with good customer service and communication abilities.
• Good time management skills.
• Have a good record of being dependable and punctual at work and school.

Working Condition/Physical Demands: This role will require you to be driving for the duration of the shift. As well as working in a garage washing fleet vehicles
