Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited teacher preparation program
  • Completion of required coursework and eligibility for student teaching placement

REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL/COOPERATING TEACHER

JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with supervisor and/or building principal.

The Student Teacher will gain hands-on teaching experience in a classroom setting under the guidance of a Cooperating Teacher and university supervisor. This position is designed to provide pre-service teachers with opportunities to develop instructional strategies, classroom management skills, and an understanding of curriculum implementation in alignment with district and state standards.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons under the supervision of the Cooperating Teacher.
  • Assist in classroom management and student engagement strategies.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback under guidance.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and seek continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and support personnel.
  • Follow school district policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • School classroom environment.
  • May require standing, walking, and active engagement with students for extended periods.
  • Expected to follow the school schedule, including early arrivals and meetings as required.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EVALUATION: The Student Teacher will be observed and evaluated by both the Cooperating Teacher and the university supervisor based on performance, instructional effectiveness, and professional growth.

This position is an unpaid learning experience in partnership with the university you are enrolled at and Manitou Springs School District 14.
