Job summary

The University of South Carolina is seeking a Student Systems Tech Team Manager to lead USC's Student Systems applications, including Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, Banner Document Management, and related integrations.

You will guide a talented technical team, influence the direction of enterprise systems, and partner with Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, and academic units to solve meaningful problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• At least 2 years of experience managing or supervising technical professionals.
• Significant experience supporting a Student Information System, with 5+ years of Ellucian Banner Student experience strongly preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of databases, SQL, system integrations, APIs/interfaces, data management, and enterprise application architecture.
• Experience with application development and the full software development lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, maintenance, and change management.
• Experience planning and executing enterprise application upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and production deployments.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production application and integration problems and lead effective root-cause analysis.
• A leadership style that develops people, encourages collaboration, builds technical depth, and holds teams accountable for results.
• Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to build trusted relationships with both technical and nontechnical partners.
• Ability to communicate complex technology issues clearly to audiences ranging from developers to functional leaders and senior management.
• Commitment to security, documentation, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and reliable production support.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing technical team responsible for USC's Student Systems applications.
• Provide technical leadership for Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, Banner Document Management, batch processing, integrations, and related technologies.
• Oversee the development, configuration, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of student systems.
• Ensure reliable day-to-day operations of mission-critical systems, including production troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, upgrades, patches, and performance management.
• Lead technical projects involving new functionality, integrations, enhancements, upgrades, and data migrations.
• Establish and continuously improve development, testing, documentation, change management, source/code management, and production-support standards.
• Partner with functional organizations and stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective, maintainable technical solutions.
• Manage vendors and third-party technology providers and coordinate their work with university technical and functional teams.
• Protect the security, integrity, privacy, and availability of student information, including adherence to FERPA and university IT policies.
• Build strong relationships with university customers through responsive support, clear communication, accountability, and a service-oriented approach.
