Job summary

School District 27J in Brighton, CO is seeking a paraprofessional to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with severe disabilities in SPED and general education classrooms. Responsibilities include modifying materials, data collection, and collaboration with teachers and therapists to implement IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans.

The role requires handling some physically demanding tasks, CPI de-escalation, and maintaining student safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with students with social/emotional disabilities preferred.
• Ability to manage crisis, stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and support for students in SPED and gen ed settings.
• Modify materials and classroom environment under guidance.
• Identify and support peer relations and natural supports.
• Follow Behavior Intervention Plans and monitor safety in school areas.
• Maintain required forms and records as directed.
• De-escalate students using CPI and BIP procedures.
• Communicate progress with teachers and therapists.
• Assist with clerical duties and attend trainings and staffings.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and follow instruction from SPED team.
• Follow daily routines for consistency; other duties as assigned.
