Job summary

School District 27J seeks a paraeducator to support students with moderate disabilities in general and special education settings. You will modify instructional materials, deliver direct instruction under supervision, and help collect data and maintain records.

You will supervise students before/after school, assist with transportation, and ensure safety per behavior plans. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; CPR/First Aid preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret Behavior Plans and IEPs.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to present information to teachers and service providers.
• Ability to solve practical problems with varied variables.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• CPR and First Aid preferred but not required.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• Must lift/move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Pass pre-employment physical and background checks.
• Colorado and FBI background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and/or academic support and supervision for students with disabilities in IEPs and classrooms.
• Modify materials and assist with delivery of instruction.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow CPI plans and monitor safety in school and activities.
• Maintain forms and records as requested by teachers and providers.
• Consult with teachers regarding best practices in special education.
• Assist with toileting, eating, positioning and communication as needed.
• Communicate observations and progress with teachers and therapists.
• Assist with minor clerical duties as needed.
• Attend trainings and student staffing as required.
