Job summary

School District 27J is hiring to provide support for students with moderate disabilities in both special and general education settings. The role includes modifying materials, data collection, and direct instruction aligned to IEPs, with supervision before/after school as needed.

The position is 8.5 hours daily, Tue-Fri, on a 9-month schedule with benefits. The candidate should have a high school diploma, the ability to interpret IEPs and behavior plans, and possess strong data-taking and

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Plans, IEPs, staff and student handbooks.
Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from general or special education teachers and related services providers.

Responsibilities

Provide direct instruction and/or academic support and supervision for students with disabilities in accordance with their IEP.
Modify materials and assist with delivery of instruction.
Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
Ensure safety during school and activities, monitoring playground and other areas.
Maintain forms and records as requested by teachers.
De-escalate students using CPI measures and follow Behavior Intervention Plans.
Communicate observations and progress with teachers and therapists.
Attend trainings and student staffing as requested.
