Job summary

Rushford Center, part of Hartford HealthCare, is seeking a Student Support Specialist to assist the educational team and individual students. You will observe, monitor safety, and support learning under certified staff supervision.

The role involves coaching toward goals, providing targeted academic support, and collaborating with teachers, clinicians, and other staff to maintain a safe, supportive environment for students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience with children/adolescents in educational or clinical settings preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques.
• Good communication skills essential.
• Must have/maintain a telephone number for scheduling contact.

Responsibilities

• Under certified staff direction, coach a student toward goals to increase academic success and reduce disruptions.
• Provide individualized academic support and instruction as outlined by the IEP.
• Observe and monitor assigned students to ensure safety and prevent injuries.
• Support behavior management programs implemented by certified staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and other support staff.
• Assist the program with routine clerical duties.
• Participate in staff, team, and unit meetings and committees as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as required.
