Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s Rushford Durham Residential is seeking a Student Support Specialist to assist the educational team and support students’ learning and safety. Working under certified staff, you will monitor students, aid in academic goals, and help implement behavior plans.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, clinicians, and support staff, along with light clerical duties. Candidates should have a High School Diploma and prior experience with youth in educational or clinical

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience with children/adolescents in educational or clinical settings preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches a student towards goals to boost academic success and reduce disruptions.
  • Provides individualized academic support as outlined by IEP.
  • Monitors student safety and injury prevention.
  • Supports behavior management programs by certified staff.
  • Collaborates with teachers, clinicians, and support staff.
  • Assists with routine clerical duties.
  • Attends staff meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Job Summary

The Student Support Specialist provides support to the educational team as well as directly attending to certain, specified needs of the students. Working under the supervision of certified staff, the Student Support Specialist provides observation and monitoring of assigned students to support learning, ensure safety and prevent injury.

Job Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of certified staff, coaches a student towards established goals which increase academic success and decrease behavioral disruptions.
  • Provides specialized, individual, academic support and instruction as outlined by the Individualized Education Program.
  • Provides observation and monitoring of assigned students to ensure safety and prevention of injury.
  • Supports behavior management programs implemented by certified staff.
  • Works collaboratively with assigned teachers, clinicians, and other support staff.
  • Assists the program with routine clerical duties.
  • Participates in staff, team, and unit meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents in an educational or clinical setting
  • Valid driver's license
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and procedures
  • Effective communication skills
  • Must have/maintain telephone number for scheduling contact
