The position requires a HS diploma or GED, 60 college credits or ParaPro, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. A stipend of $4.00 per hour is offered with training opportunities and adherence to district policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Sixty (60) semester credit hours from a college or university accredited by the Missouri DESE or have passed the ParaPro Assessment Test if in a Title I school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area preferred.
  • Experience with children or youth with behavioral needs preferred.
  • Must deal with daily stressors such as inappropriate verbal and physical behaviors.
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or hold up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use email or willingness to learn with training.
  • Must be reliable with good attendance.
  • Comply with district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, parents, and staff in implementing behavioral and instructional plans.
  • Work with individuals or small groups to implement academic, functional skills and behavioral lessons.
  • Collect student performance data on individual goals and objectives.
  • Assist students in regular education rooms and adapt materials to their needs.
  • Provide escort and assistance to students as needed (restroom, lunch, field trips).
  • Maintain confidentiality of students' records and information.
  • Participate in training such as weekly program meetings.
  • Provide toileting assistance as necessary.
  • Use district-approved restraint procedures if required by supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
