Job summary

Spokane Community College is seeking a Workforce Transitions Specialist (Program Specialist 2) to help eligible students secure college funding, provide information and referrals, process applications, determine eligibility, issue awards, and support workforce-related tasks.

The role coordinates programs such as WRT, WF, BFET, OG, SEAG, SSEH, and involves data input, reporting, compliance, and occasional front desk duties. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all required competencies for this position.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience interpreting policies and procedures based on government regulations.
• Excellent student-centered customer service.
• Outstanding organizational and attention to detail skills.
• Experience working with student/client records.
• Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor Workforce programs, determine file completion and eligibility, and award aid.
• Provide information about financial aid programs and services to students, staff, and external agencies.
• Develop internal quality assurance procedures and train staff as needed.
• Determine student needs and schedule accordingly, interpret regulations related to programs.
• Assess quarterly and annual academic progress for aid recipients.
• Use a student management system to input and maintain records and generate reports.
• Analyze program operations, ensure compliance with policies, and provide guidance to students.
• Attend meetings and public presentations on program topics.
• Maintain confidential student files per FERPA.
• Assist in grant preparation and occasional front desk coverage.
• Supervise work-study staff as needed.
• Model professionalism and respect in all interactions.
• Comply with district policies and collective bargaining agreements.
• Support Spokane Colleges’ strategic plan and perform other duties.
