Job summary

UNC Pembroke is seeking a Student Success Specialist within the TRIO SSS Classic program. The role supports academic success, persistence, degree completion, and post‑graduate preparation for participants through intakes, progress monitoring, and individualized planning.

Responsibilities include data collection and reporting, workshop creation, collaboration with campus partners, and guiding students toward degree completion, graduate school, or employment with adherence to program regulations.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree required. Preference given to degrees in areas related to Counseling, Education and Administration and to applicants with experience working with first generation college students, students with disabilities, and students with low income.
• Excellent organizational and human relation skills required.
• Knowledge of financial aid and graduate school application process.

Responsibilities

• The Student Success Specialist is responsible for supporting the academic success, persistence, degree completion, and post-graduation preparation of participants in the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Classic program.
• The Student Success Specialist will conduct participant intakes to assess academic, educational, career, and other identified needs; monitor participants’ progress toward degree completion; and assist participants in developing individualized academic and success plans to achieve their educational and professional goals.
• The position will collect, analyze, and report data related to participants’ academic progress toward degree completion.
• The position will assist with record management and documentation of participant files and services.
• The Student Success Specialist will also create and facilitate workshops, activities, and events designed to enhance participants’ academic and educational experiences and prepare them for success beyond graduation.
