Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools seeks an Academic Interventionist to support reading, language arts and math through targeted instruction. The 38-week position can be filled with either 28 hours per week (7 hours/day, 4 days/week) at 150.43/day or 25 hours per week (5 hours/day, 5 days/week) at 107.45/day.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of 90 college credits and a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Michigan teaching certificate preferred where applicable.
• Experience with diverse learners is required or strongly preferred.
• Ability to support general education instructional staff and collaborate with parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
• Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills.
• Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and maintain a safe environment.
• Accompanies students on field trips to assist with supervision.
• Fosters parent involvement and assists with communication as requested.
