Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools seeks an Academic Interventionist to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics and related skills. The role involves working with students individually and in small groups, assisting teachers, and helping with assessments and classroom strategies to maximize inclusion and achievement.

Travel between schools may be required. Qualifications include 90 college credits and preferred Michigan teaching certification.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 90 college credits from an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate preferred.
• Experience with diverse learning needs.
• Willingness to learn curriculum standards and development processes.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assists staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Prepares and reinforces instructional materials to meet student needs.
• Maintains records documenting student learning and performance.
• Supports classroom behavior management and safe, orderly environments.
• Supervises non-instructional areas and accompanies students on field trips.
• Assists with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Supports students with special needs in all aspects of instruction and participates in IEP processes.
