Job summary

North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC is seeking an Academic Success Coach to support undergraduates in developing study skills and achieving degree completion. You will assess needs, create Student Success Plans, and connect students with tutoring, counseling, health services, and community resources.

Regular progress reviews and accountability are essential. The role emphasizes proactive, personalized guidance, collaboration with campus departments, and ongoing evaluation of service

Qualifications

• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Possess strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Maintain accurate, confidential student records and documentation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of instructional practices and student success models.
• Ability to work with diverse learners and provide individualized support.
• Promote student retention and success through data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide general academic coaching to students through walk-in and scheduled appointments.
• Assist students in understanding degree requirements and progression.
• Explain academic policies and procedures (add/drop, graduation, pass/not-pass).
• Develop individualized success plans and monitor progress.
• Connect students with campus resources and services (tutoring, counseling, health services).
• Collaborate with campus resources to ensure appropriate support is provided.
