Job summary

North Carolina Central University in Durham seeks a Graduation Specialist to advise junior- and senior-level students on academic plans and graduation requirements. The role emphasizes individualized guidance, confidentiality, and coordination across colleges and offices to support timely degree completion.

You will interpret policies, monitor progress, and connect students with appropriate resources. This on-site position reports to the Coordinator of Upper Division Professional Academic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Education, Counseling, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred and strongly desired.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in higher education advising or related areas.
• Proficiency with Banner and degree-audit or related advising technologies.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on degree requirements, course selection, and timelines toward graduation.
• Collaborate with departments, colleges, and student-support offices to support timely graduation.
• Monitor student progress and identify barriers to degree completion.
• Develop individualized academic plans and provide proactive guidance.
• Use data analytics to inform retention and progression efforts.
• Support recruitment and outreach initiatives and provide program information to students and families.
