Abraxas Youth and Family Services seeks a Student Support Specialist to work with a certified teacher, providing 1:1 and small-group academic support and reinforcing lessons to help students stay on track academically.

The role emphasizes being a positive role model, maintaining a safe classroom, monitoring progress with staff, and collaborating on student development. A Bachelor's degree is required, with PA teaching certification or emergency permit preferred.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in any subject.
• Education and Experience Preferred: interest in education, youth development, or human services.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group academic support (reading, math, and core subjects).
• Reinforce lessons and help students complete schoolwork.
• Support classroom structure, routines, and engagement.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor to students.
• Monitor and communicate student progress with teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and productive classroom environment.
• Participate in team discussions around student progress and development.
