Job summary

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required in advising or higher education related discipline.
• Experience in advising/career coaching for university students.
• Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and working with diverse student populations.
• Understanding of student development theory and high-impact practices in retention and graduation initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt advising style to meet individual student needs.
• Proficiency with online tools and advising methods; desire to improve services.

Responsibilities

• Serve a caseload of up to 300 students with holistic assessment, planning, and proactive advising.
• Develop Individual Academic Plans including Degree Pathway, Career Development plan, and faculty mentor assignment.
• Guide students in exploring personal, academic, and professional interests and developing career readiness competencies.
• Collaborate with faculty to stay informed about curricular changes and barriers to student success.
• Assist students in finding work-based learning experiences and career exploration opportunities.
• Refer students to career, academic, counseling, and student life resources as needed.
• Collaborate with One Stop staff for intervention and advocacy and support probation/ dismissal actions when appropriate.
• Utilize advising technologies for outreach and engagement with students.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advising concepts.
