Job summary

Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado is seeking a Student Success Specialist to advocate for students, remove barriers, and promote completion. You will build relationships with students and campus partners while implementing strategies for access, persistence, and degree completion.

The role requires collaboration with the Student Success Team, coordination of orientations, individualized advising, and data-informed practices to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working directly with high school and/or college students.
  • Ability to provide individualized support and build one-on-one relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience tracking outcomes, maintaining records, analyzing information, and/or preparing reports.
  • Proficiency with computers and commonly used software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and engage new students by coordinating New Student Orientation and developing experiences for a smooth transition.
  • Provide individualized student support and academic advising through one-on-one meetings and proactive outreach.
  • Support students who may face barriers, including first-generation and underserved populations.
  • Use data and evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes and persistency.
  • Build strong partnerships with students and families to promote engagement and understanding.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success Team to plan registration events and outreach activities.
  • Strengthen transfer pathways by coordinating transfer events and advising on requirements.
  • Support assessment and placement services via the Testing Center and maintain records.
  • Track student engagement and outcomes and contribute to reports and program assessments.
  • Serve as a collaborative campus resource across departments and with external partners.
